This workshop looks at a cycle of Visualization, Playing, and Investigation to teach the Big Ideas in elementary mathematics. The instructional strategies are specifically designed in support social emotional learning as well as promote deep understanding of the most important mathematical concepts in the standards. Example activities will be drawn from sixth, seventh, and eighth grade standards, but the strategies are valid for grades 6-12.
Audience: Math teachers 6-12, especially grades 6-8, instructional coaches, support personnel.
