About this event
Transition to the new Aged Care Quality Standards has started and the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission will commence assessment and monitoring against the new standards from 1 July.
The Standards focus on evaluation and quality outcomes for consumers.
Service providers are encouraged to use the transition period to identify and address areas for improvement, support their staff to understand the requirements of the new standards, support care recipients and their families, carers and representatives to understand what the changes mean for them, and align their system, policies and practices with the new standards.
The new standards will replace the Accreditation Standards, Home Care Standards, National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Flexible Aged Care Program Quality Framework Standards and Transition Care Standards.
They will apply to all aged care services including residential care, home care, flexible care and services under the Commonwealth Home Support Program.
This guest lecture will:
- Describe the structure, intent and application of the eight new standards
- Describe the assessment of performance against each requirement
- Advise on how best to use the guidance materials to prepare for assessment against the new standards
